Weekly Events

We exist to see students know and experience God. Our ministry focuses on grades 7-12. Check out our church website for more information on our other ministries.

Youth ~ Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30 pm
:: Each week we study how God, The Bible, and the Church meet us in our everyday lives!

SK8 Church ~ Tuesdays 7 - 9 pm starting in October
:: Come use our indoor skate ramps... for free! A snack is provided each night with pizza the last week of the month.

Sunday School ~ Sundays 9:15 - 10 am
:: This tends to be more strictly studying what the Bible has to say to us. Sometimes we look at different topics, sometimes we study an entire book of the Bible

If Your Dad Were President

Naomi and I have been watching the TV series "The West Wing".  It is a drama focused on the west wing of the White House.  In the series we get to see what personal interaction between a president and his kids might be like.  The difficult part is finding the balance between their dad being their dad and their dad being the president of the United States.

In the same way I believe we need to find that balance in our relationship with God.  He is the almighty creator of the universe, yet he is our father.  How do we approach him?  He wants us to come to him as our father, yet we also need to have the awe and fear of him as God.  We dare not come too flippantly (Ecclesiastes 5:1-7) but we know we can come boldly before his throne (Hebrews 4:16).

This coming thursday night we are going to talk about how we come to God in prayer.  How do you talk to God?  As the creator of the universe?  As your father?  As your boss?  As a stranger?

Fellowship - Not just the name of our church!

Last night we talked about how all believers are connected because of God's Spirit that is in each of us.

We challenged you to find a couple Christian friends that you can connect with on a deeper level, more than just sports, shopping and school.

Follow up this weekend and talk to some close friends about becoming more connected.

Ask how you can pray for each other.  What are some great things God is doing in your life and what are some hardships you are dealing with?

Figure out a time you can get together -in person! not on Facebook!

If you feel like you don't have any close Christian friends, start getting to know the other youth that are out on Thursdays.

And as always, you have your parents.  Talk to them about what is going on in your life.  I am also sure they would love to help you connect with other youth!

Hope you have a great weekend and hope to see you next week!

BASIC. WE ARE CHURCH

This thursday we will be starting a series on the church called WE AR CHURCH by Francis Chan.  It is part of the small group study called BASIC.

It is available on the Right Now Media site so when you sign up for it you can watch the videos if you miss a week or want to see them again.

Netflix for Church

Hey Youth.  This Thursday there will be a sign up for Right Now Media.  It is kind of like netflix for churches with hundreds upon hundreds of Bible study videos for kids, teens, adults, couples, parents etc.

Check it out here, talk to your parents and sign up on Thursday

The Angry Atheist

Take a read of an article written by National Post Columnist Rex Murphy.  It is about how atheists in the states are demanding their own chaplains.  The article can be found here

The Burden of Life We Place on Ourselves

Feeling like life has become a burden?  Open the book of Ecclesiastes.  A tough read for sure but one that is more than applicable to our western world today.

Philip Yancy comments that it is a book that "insists that the stones we trip over are good things in themselves: 'He has made everything beautiful in its time' (3:11).   Yet, by assuming a burden we were not meant to carry, we turn nudity into pornography, wine into alcoholism, food into gluttony, and human diversity into racism and prejudice.  Despair descends as we abuse God's good gifts; they seem no longer gifts and no longer good."

The Fall and Back to School... maybe the two have something in common

So if you didn't get my little theological joke in the title, reread it again.  Anyways, this fall we are kicking off Thursday nights this Thursday, September 5th!  Come on out as we will be handing out the prizes from our summer retreat.

For Thursdays we will be looking at the church, the hope of the world, and we may even have some music on these nights too!

We will be doing our annual tractor ride progressive dinner, another high school night with the youth groups of Cobourg, an awesome event in Nov is in the works, and we will be going to the Refuge again for our Christmas event!

If you have any questions about anything contact me!
